Introduction to our Staff

John J. "Joe" McAllister, CPA is the founder of Ojai Valley Financial Services, LLC., and as a retired partner he continues, on a limited basis, his interest in the activities of our firm.
Elizabeth J. "Betsy" Karnes, E.A., our Managing Partner, has over 20 years experience in this office. Her training and experience as an Enrolled Agent have provided her with the expert knowledge needed to benefit our clients. She supervises all phases of accounting and payroll, as well as business and personal tax preparation.
Rene Briggs, Partner, also has considerable experience in both business accounting and taxes. She is a licensed Conservator and assists senior clients to provide for their accounting and other special needs. Tax returns for businesses, Partnerships, Corporations and Non-profits, and the process for their closure are her areas of special interest.
Lea Harvey, Partner, has 20 years experience with the firm. She is our research specialist, and assists with tax preparation, communication, and special projects.
Our efforts are enhanced by the abilities of our experienced staff: Angela May, payroll specialist and Vera Barajas business accounting specialist.

Ojai Valley Financial Services, LLC was formed in 1996 and on December 31, 2001 the firm purchased the tax practice of one of its partners, John J. (Joe) McAllister. Providing accounting, payroll and personal services to our senior clients, has allowed us to assist more of our Ojai neighbors with hard-to-find services. With integrity as our top priority our goal is to provide clients with service that is personal, positive and efficient. You can rely on us!
